Coronet has acquired The 100 Most Pointless Things in the World by Alexander Armstrong and Richard Osman, a spin-off book from the pair’s BBC One quiz show, “Pointless”.
Editor Charlotte Hardman bought UK and Commonwealth rights in a two-book pre-empt deal with Juliet Mushens at PFD on behalf of Endemol UK. The 100 Most Pointless Things in the World will be published in October with the second book to follow in 2013.
The books will be musings on some of the most pointless things, places and facts in everyday modern life.
Hardman said: “With the show’s ratings climbing fast, it seems like a good time to be taking the Pointless name into the book arena. Like the QI franchise before it, the Pointless series of books will be perfect for gifting—for fans of the show and lovers of humour books in general.
“The material is very funny and the books promise to be full of information that you never knew—or never thought you needed to know.”
